This is the first web site for real world lap time records for Microprose Grand Prix II.
Enjoy watching them (download by clicking, unzip with pkunzip, and load the hot lap from gp2).All laps have been checked, the weight and power have been checked also (these are parameters which could be changed using gp2Editor, so I check them).You can download HOF2Lap.exe if you want to check every parameters of laps. You can send your laps, but be sure to set the driver's name to yours while hotlapping. All sessions are allowed. I'll only print the name appearing on the hotlap. I also browse many gp2 sites to see if there is a better lap, and insure there isn't! So that if I can find one, I download it, check it, and put it on the page; you'll not find better laps! Download gp2Editor for windows to edit things.

Visit the Monaco Top 100 Challenge site, and send there your best lap.
You can also build your own cockpit, like the one on the picture (see at the bottom).

WORLD RECORDS

best times of all gp2 sites on the internet

These times have been checked. You can download and see them by clicking. All parameters have been checked: weight, power... using HOF2lap.exe program (Gizmo). I also watch them to check. There is no cheating !
Download and print the Grand Prix II World Records Microsoft Excel sheet to compare your times with the world records (gaps and percentages).Just put your times in the boxes at the proper format (1:11,835 for example). This paper sheet is updated with the records of course.

A tip for hotlappers, which keeps split times always and allow not to make the warm up lap before hotlapping:
As soon as you made your own lap record follow these steps:
* save your hotlap
* return to cockpit
* type A to go to pits
* get new tyres
* get 2 laps fuel
* drive your warm up lap slowly
* when you are not too close to the starting line, just enough to be able to get maximum speed, type ESC
* save game (not hotlap!)
Now you can load many times this game, to make a new hotlap, and you'll always have the split times of your best lap when hotlapping. It's interesting to have them, to compare your driving. You also won't have to drive the warm up lap any more!

REAL TRACKS RECORDS

The records in the first table are for the same circuits as in Grand Prix 2, without track changes.Whereas, for example, as the Imola track was modified after 1994, the new records appear in the next table. (in my opinion, the new circuit is less fun...)

The Estoril record was made during 1996-1997 winter, while practicing.
The Barcelona record was made in 1997 by J.Villeneuve, while qualifying.
The Monaco record was made on May 10th by Frentzen, while qualifying (see the picture at the top).
The Canada record was driven during the last practice session in 1997.
The Jerez record was made on 10th feb 1997 by Gerhard Berger, while practicing.

I heard about a new Magny-Cours record by Panis this winter, but I had no way to check it...

Tracks changes since 1994

The swimming pool chicane of Monaco was changed this year, but not enough to consider it as a different circuit...However, if you don't agree, the record for exactly the same circuit as in gp2 is 1'18''560 by Michael Schumacher, 1994.

The Nissan chicane of Barcelona doesn't exist any more.

The acque minerale and variante Bassa chicanes don't exist any more on the Imola circuit.

Special Hotlap challenge

This is a special challenge for people who want to cheat and have fun. Driving a 182kg F1 is very funny, just try it once! You can break in about 5 meters... there are absolutly no rules. If you want to see these laps, you must change the weight setting of your gp2.exe, using gp2Editor
You can send your lap. I'll check it and print the name appearing on the hotlap.
